We’re delighted to announce that Joy Walton-Power - a leader with Jog Derbyshire group Mickleover Joggers - has joined the Peak Running CIC Board as an Independent Director and will sit alongside the existing Independents on our Board: Angela White, James Illsley and Maddy Stretton.
This is really great news for our community and, with two group leaders now on the Board, will give the Jog Derbyshire network a significant voice in the running of the company and how it supports the Jog Derbyshire network going forwards.
Joy’s involvement with Jog Derbyshire stems back to the very beginning of the initiative in 2009, through her job in a sports centre. Something that kick started her own jogging journey with a couch to 5k programme.
As well as enjoying the programme herself, she also found helping others to learn to run very rewarding. So, after moving to Mickleover in 2013, she co-founded Mickleover Joggers. A group that flourished and has gone from strength to strength over the past decade.
Nowadays she balances her role as a jog group leader with having a young family, having had her second son arrive into the world early this year.
Joy says, “Having been involved with Jog Derbyshire from the outset and having put so much of myself into the Mickleover group over the years, I kind of see it as my first baby. I’m therefore really excited to be joining the Peak Running Board as an Independent Director. And am looking forward to contributing to the future of Jog Derbyshire.”
