2025 - A year of growth, achievement and community |
It’s been another exciting year across Jog Derbyshire and Peak Running with 2025 bringing together progress, learning and connection.
Over the last 12 months we have seen new leaders proudly achieved their Lirf qualification, and many participants complete Co-leader training, others became Walk Derbyshire Leaders, several leaders earnt navigation awards and a dedicated group braved a cold and wet October weekend to secure their outdoor first aid qualification. Leaders also attended a bespoke Safeguarding Awareness session that was developed in partnership with Active Partners Trust, giving them valuable, localized knowledge and information. Their commitment continues to strengthen our network and the support we can offer to others. Well done to all!
We were also delighted to welcome Belper Running Club and South Normanton Jog Group into the community, along with Joy Walton Power and Chris Frost who joined the Peak Running and Jog Derbyshire HQ.
At the beginning of April we hosted our annual gathering in the Jog Derbyshire room at the Derby 10k, over 300 Jog Derbyshire participants took part in the race. The morning was bursting with team spirit, excitement and plenty of smiles. See you there in 2026! In May, groups across the county came together to celebrate National Volunteers week, opening their doors to welcome others and sharing plenty of jogs, walks, and conversations – not forgetting the cake! It was a brilliant reminder of the warmth and generosity that define our network.
Spring saw the Feel Good In The Forest project expand it’s sessions to include Men’s Movement Monday, and in October we were thrilled to relaunch #RunWalkTalk in Amber Valley, with 4 more events already in development for 2026. Next stop: North East Derbyshire. |
A fond Farewell![]() As the year draws to a close, we would like to take a moment to wish a warm and heartfelt farewell to three familiar faces from across the network who will be leaving at the end of 2025. A huge thank you goes to Tracey Parker, leader of Swad Joggers and Helen Purdy, leader of Pride Joggers. These remarkable ladies have given countless hours of energy, enthusiasm, encouragement and leadership to their groups and the wider network. Their dedication over the years has made a lasting difference, and there is no doubt that they have positively impacted the lives of many others.
And finally, we say a sincere thank you to Andy Brooks, who will be stepping away from his role as managing director of Peak Running at the end of the year. Andy’s unwavering passion for improving the lives of others and his commitment to making the great outdoors accessible for all has shaped and strengthened our community in countless ways. Good luck Andy – don’t be a stranger!
As we wrap up 2025, we would like to thank every leader, volunteer, participant and supporter who has helped to make this year so special. Your enthusiasm, kindness and dedication continue to inspire everything we do. Here’s to more miles and more memories in 2026!
Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year

I keep a tab open with Crazyig for when I need a break during work. They have a decent collection of browser games that run smoothly without any lag. The racing and shooting categories are where I usually end up spending most of my time.
I really enjoyed reading the 2025 round‑up newsletter — https://similarsites.co.uk/donbet/ it felt like catching up with friends who are as passionate about running and community as I am. It was inspiring to see all the achievements, new leaders, and events over the past year, and how many people came together to support each other. Highlighting the expansion of sessions like Feel Good in the Forest and RunWalkTalk made me feel part of something positive and welcoming. I’m genuinely excited about what’s ahead in 2026 and can already imagine joining a few runs myself — it’s great to see a community where everyone, no matter their pace or experience, is encouraged to get out, enjoy the trails, and share that sense…
I was reading this post about the 2025 newsletter from Peak Running and it actually made me smile because all the plans and upcoming events look so exciting and full of energy, lol. One minute I’m thinking about training goals and new routes, and the next minute I’m like “oh no I completely forgot about that finance assignment I need to finish,” haha. Life just throws all these things at you at once sometimes, you know? Maybe it’s just me but when I’m overwhelmed trying to even figure out where to start with research, budgeting for a project, or organising all the details it feels like way too much, and having even a little bit of help makes things feel…
