Every Thurs (National Forest) / Last Tues of month (Staffs/West Mids)

Regular weekday morning off-road outings on scenic trails at a relaxed 'chatty' pace, starting at 9:45am. These sessions are as much about the mind as the body. They are a perfect way to de-stress and connect with nature in some beautiful green spaces, amongst a friendly and supportive group.

Walking, Talking, Tuesdays

Join Debs and co for exactly what it says on the tin!

Taking place on alternate Tuesday mornings, these guided walks will explore beautiful trails in the National Forest. You can expect plenty of scenic trails, opportunity to 'connect' to nature and good conversation with the leaders and fellow walkers. As you'll be guided on the walk by trained leaders, these sessions are a great opportunity to safely build your knowledge of the trails in South Derbyshire, whilst building fitness at the same time.

Workshop

NNAS Silver Navigator Course (2 days)

Map reading and navigation course for those with little or no previous experience.

The Silver National Navigation Award is a practical hands-on award for runners or walkers. (Conducted at walking pace).

It is an intermediate level course that teaches the skills required to step off well trodden paths and use landscape features, together with a compass and other techniques to follow a route. It is aimed at people that have either already completed the Bronze Navigator award or already have some navigation experience on routes using defined paths.

For the full Silver Navigator award syllabus please see the NNAS website. The NNAS Bronze Navigator award is accredited by the Scottish Credit & Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 4, and 2 SCQF credit points are awarded on completion.

This course is split over 2 days and the maximum tutor to participant ratio is 1:6

It will be held in the Peak District National Park, and being a very practical course will be entirely outdoors. The exact location will be advised to participants ahead of the course.

Celebrating the UK's original national park, with two distances to choose from

After the success of theBirthday Bash in April 2022 and April 2023 we're delighted to announce that this epic event will be back for 2024!
The Birthday Bash promises to be a challenging, fun adventure for all that take part, whether you're a walker or a runner, tackling the 35km or the full 70km, you're in for a splendid adventure in the Peak District.

Trail Therapy: Measham

Jog or walk with us on fantastic trails

We'll be exploring the trails around Measham. Both the jog and walk groups will venture through various new wooded areas such Gilwiskaw Valley woods and Stoney Flatts wood, using old railway lines that have been coverted to trails for all to enjoy.

Our #trailtherapy events are guided by our friendly and supportive team of leaders. We set a pace that is comfortable for everyone as the activities are more about enjoying the surroundings and the benefits to mental wellbeing than having a hard workout. Nobody ever gets left behind.

Distance: Jog group - 7 miles / walk group - 5 miles

Fell Running Skills

Group coaching session and guided fell run

Want to try fell running but not sure where to start? Scared you’ll end up lost, last, or flat on your face?

Led by our coaching team, who have many years of fell running experience themselves, this practical session is for those new to fell running. It includes a guided run on a classic village fell race route and lots of information, advice and coaching input.

During the session, which lasts around 3 hours, we cover:
• Top tips on the up-hills and downhills
• Chance to practice your footwork skills over lots of fell running terrain
• Demos and explanation of Fell Running Association (FRA) minimum kit and fell shoes
• Explanations of race categories and which are right for your ability level
• Basic navigation skills
• The chance to have a go at a classic village fell race route of approximately 5-miles (8km) in a non-competitive environment with knowledgeable leaders and a friendly group!

Wayfarer

Wayfarer Lite: Staton's Ladies

A fun-packed 'lite' adventure exploring this beautiful - and some say magical! - area, sandwiched between the grits of the Dark Peak and the limestone plateau of the White Peak, stretching away into the distance.

This short and sweet route packs a lot in, from rolling country-side fields, to steeper lung-busting climbs, fantastic view-points and interesting historical features along the way. And for those of you who are partial to trig-bagging, you'll be glad to know that you can expect one on this route!

Wayfarer Lites are ideal if you're newer to running, coming back from injury or illness or just want an adventure that's a little shorter than our usual Wayfarers.

Distance: 8 miles with 1,200ft of elevation

After the success of the previous Weaver Hills Fell Races we're honoured to host a round of the FRA Junior Championships, sponsored by Pete Bland Sports! Participants can return and tackle this traditional, exciting fell race, with the addition of two new routes for the Juniors.

The Fractured Marathon

The Friday night trail party is back for 2024!

The Fractured Marathon is an exciting event for teams or solo runners of all abilities. The innovative format has been a smash hit with participants ever since the inaugural event in 2019. It creates a great atmosphere and is as much a Friday night running party as a race!

Based in the grounds of the spectacular Calke Abbey, the event will run for 5 hours from 7pm until midnight; going from sunlight to starlight. There will be 10 timed laps around a scenic 2.6-mile course, which will start every half hour on the half hour.

Brooksie's Bash

The original Peak Running event!

The ‘Bash’ was our original race and has grown in popularity year on year, due to the fantastic setting in the South Derbyshire countryside and friendly atmosphere, all whilst raising funds for Derbyshire Mind.

Our mission for the 'Bash' is to provide a good value event which is challenging but suitable for all abilities from the recreational runner looking for their next challenge to experienced racers. 

If you haven't taken part in an off-road event before it is a great opportunity to come and have a go in a friendly and supportive environment.

The Dovedale Dipper

15-ish mile and marathon-ish distances available

The 'Dipper' is a hugely popular trail event in a wonderful part of the Peak District National Park, based in Hartington. It is open to both runners and walkers, with two distances to choose from, which both explore a beautiful part of the white peak area. ​

Hob Hurst's Fell Race

A category 'BS" Fell Race

Hob Hurst's Fell Race has been incredibly popular since it's debut in 2018 and this year will kick off the Peak Running 'Weekender'.

Starting and finishing at Duke's Barn on the edge of the Chatsworth Estate, the race is an Fell Running Association category BS event covering 8km (5-miles) and with 256m (840') of ascent.

Peak District Ultras

Truly spectacular routes in the UK's original national park

The fifth edition of our classic Peak District Ultras will take place on the last weekend in August.

The event will incorporate three races, all of which are UTMB World Series Qualifiers.

Friday 30th August: The Millstone 100 : 100 miles, 16,5000ft

Saturday 31st August: The Limestone 50 : 50 miles, 7,300ft

Saturday 31st August: The Peveril 33 : 33 miles, 6,000ft

Organised by our good friend Helen Treece of Phoenix Running & Fitness in memory of her granddaughter who was stillborn at 38 weeks gestation in April 2023.

Profits from the race will go the Royal Derby Hospital Labour Ward to help them provide more cold cots in support of parents of stillborn babies.

Unique Personal Challenge Event : More Miles = More Trees

A fun personal challenge event for runners and walkers to keep you active during the cold, dark days of the shortest month. Can be done local to home and the more miles that are run the more new trees will be planted In the National Forest. So it could be the most carbon positive event you’ll ever do.

There are FOUR levels to choose from plus, for the very ambitious, the option of trying to achieve a 'RUN-FOREST GRAND SLAM'.

RFTT will be back for 2025!

The Winter Bash

Like Brooksie's Bash but in the winter!

This is a winter version of Brooksie's Bash 10-mile Trail Race, starting and finishing in Ticknall.

The race will mostly use the same trails around the wonderful South Derbyshire countryside as it's summer counterpart but will go in the opposite direction (clockwise). This is a self-navigation event.

Entries for the 2025 event will be opening in November!
