In our previous DOAC edition in March, we explained that things at Peak Running were evolving as we wanted to focus our efforts on the stuff we’re most passionate about, i.e. our work to support, inspire and connect people within the community we’re here for.
.
So, as this evolution of our little social enterprise continues, we’re delighted to share some great news about our team.
Firstly, that Joy Walton-Power, who has served as one of our Independent Directors (aka Board of Trustees) for the past two years, has joined the operational team and will be our Service Development Lead. A role that will see her playing a key role across the different aspects of our work.
Having been part of the Jog Derbyshire initiative in the very early days back in the noughties, and the highly respected leader of the thriving Mickleover Joggers group for the past 12 years, Joy brings a wealth of very relevant experience to the day-to-day team. In addition to an abundance of management, marketing and administrative skills developed in her work beyond the world physical activity.
Joy will work closely with our founding Director, Andy Brooks, and Jog Derbyshire Lead, Lucy Bartles. Which leads us on to our second piece of exciting news.
Lucy, alongside her role of leading our Jog Derbyshire work, is stepping up to join our Board or Directors. As such she’ll be play an important part in shaping the future of our work to ensure our various initiatives, and those of the other organisations we partner with, complement one another as seamlessly as possible.
Kathryn (Red) Langan continues in her role as Group Mentor, reporting to Lucy, and will be out and about providing valuable support and advice to Jog Derbyshire groups across the county.
Our final piece of good news is that, thanks to our friends at the University of Derby, Cassie Barratt has joined us temporarily as an intern through to the end of June.
Cassie’s remit is to help us review and refresh what we offer, and how that is portrayed to our target audiences via the website, social media and other channels. Including to communities that are currently underrepresented.
She’ll therefore be reaching out to various groups and individuals across our community to understand your perceptions of what we do. And provide us with valuable insights on how we can build on our work to date, and help a wider range of people improve their lives through being active outdoors in the future.
Any support that any of you out there can give her with this work would be greatly appreciated. As we feel it will be really valuable in helping us support you going forwards.
Please join us in welcoming our new joiners to the team!
