After the success of the first Weaver Hills Fell Race in 2021, we're excited for participants to return and tackle this traditional fell race in a beautiful but lesser known part of Staffordshire.

Based from Shawcroft Farm at Wootton thanks to Henry and the team at Daltons Dairy, this short but perfectly formed race is certainly going to be an exhilarating Friday night out!

From the farm you'll head out on gently rising tracks before choosing your best route up the steep climb to the trig point. You'll then enjoy a fast descent all the way to the finish!

In addition to the main senior race there will be junior U17 and U15 races over the same route, and an U13 race on a shorter (but still challenging) route.

U13 : 2.7k / 93m

U15/U17 : 3.6k /201m

Fell Running Rules and Safety

The race will operate under the Fell Running Association's Rules for Competition and participants must comply with the "Runner's Rules".

Participants are required to wear shoes suitable for fell running, and should arrive at the race with the 'FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit' and be prepared to wear or carry it during the race. Depending on the weather conditions on the night we may relax some or all of these requirements:

  • Waterproof whole body cover (with taped seams and integrated attached hood),

  • Hat

  • Gloves

  • Map of the route

  • Compass

  • Whistle

  • Emergency food.

Other useful FRA safety information includes the "First on Scene" and "Hypothermia" leaflets, although we obviously hope not to need these on the day.

More information about the Fell Running Association (FRA), including how to join, is available HERE. Membership is just £16 per year and includes lots of benefits.

On the day

Daltons Dairy, Shawcroft Farm Wootton, Ashbourne, DE6 2GW.  OS Grid Reference SK  105452

This will be at Shawcroft Farm. There will be a nominal charge payable in cash on the day,  which will go to support the Dalton Dairy Charities. Please DO NOT park on the roadside in the village.

There will be NO ENTRIES ON THE DAY.

Registration will be on the parking field.  Please check-in on the day to collect your number and timing chip, the chips need returning at the end of the event.

Juniors will need to ensure that they have their Parental Consent Form with them, copies of which can be downloaded HERE.  Alternatively these can be emailed to info@peakrunning.co.uk no later than 48 hours prior to the race.

There will be no water on the course. Water will be available at the finish but the event is "cup free" so please bring your own drinking vessel.

The Daltons Dairy Honest Shop will be open (as it is every day). We encourage you to partake in their delicious ice cream and/or other goodies in appreciation of Henry and the Daltons team allowing us to use the venue.  We also hope their new "Coffee Hatch" will be open, serving hot drinks and cake.  Keep up to date with them via their Facebook Page HERE.
