Armed with a ‘Derbyshire Wayfarer’ ticket, we’ll be hopping on the train and heading up into the Peak District to tackle a challenging point to point route that’ll explore some of the lesser-known bits of the park’s highest hill. We’ll then finish at a pub for refreshments before the train home - perfect!

Although there will be some flexibility on the route if conditions are harsher than we’d normally expect on a winter day in the hills, expect a committing, challenging route and no lenience on kit requirements.

We’ll be meeting at Derby train station in good time to catch the 08:11 train; changing in Sheffield onto 09:14 train along the Hope Valley. Afterwards, we anticipate being back in Derby between 1700 & 1800.

If you’re travelling from a different direction, there are plenty of options to meet us at stations along the way. Just drop us a line to discuss you’re itinerary.

Distance: If all goes to plan, we’ll cover around 14-miles across some challenging rock and bog riddled terrain and ascend around 2500 feet.

Kit requirements - Please note that you'll need to bring the below with you in order to take part in this event and there will no exceptions as this will be a challengeing, wintery day out;  

• Off-road / trail running / walking shoes
• Clothes suitable for the weather conditions, plus additional warm layer for emergencies
• Waterproof jacket, with hood and taped seams
• Waterproof trousers
• Hat and gloves
• Sufficient food and drinks for a morning in the hills
• Small backpack or bum-bag to carry items not being worn
• Cash / card for emergencies / (or cake)

PLEASE NOTE: The Derbyshire Wayfarer ticket is NOT included in the price of the Wayfarer. The standard price is £15.40 but there are discounts for groups or Gold Card holders. The ticket gives you unlimited travel on trains and buses across the county for 24 hours.
