About the event

Meeting at Edale train stn, this is a point-to-point Wayfarer where we'll be hopping on the train and heading to New Mills for our journeys start! (Full details of train / timings etc. will be in your confirmation email after booking.)

This fantastic route from New Mills to Edale will explore some of the Peak District Birthday Bash 35km & 70km race routes, making this wayfarer perfect for those that have entered the PD Birthday Bash and are keen to get familiar with some of the route. Equally, this Wayfarer is open to anyone wanting to explore a beautiful area of the Peak District without the pressure of running. As a hike we'll be moving at a relaxed pace, suitable for all in the group.

Beginning with a steady hike towards Hayfield, the climb will then begin as we make our way to Kinder Reservoir and *hopefully* the views will start to appear as we continue to ascend up the tricky terrain of William Clough. Reaching the top, we'll join the Pennine Way and head to Kinder Downfall. Panoramic views of the Peak district will be waiting for us, with plenty of photo opportunities. The highest point of the hike will be Kinder Low trig point. We'll then descend down Jacobs Ladder and make our way back to the cars at Edale!

As well as getting a fantastic day out exploring, there will be opportunity to learn from Matt, who is a highly experienced Mountain Leader. So whether you’re looking for a lovely day out in the safe hands of people who live and breathe the outdoors, or you’d like to gain experience and knowledge for your own big mountain adventures in the future, this is the Wayfarer Hike for you!

Although there will be some flexibility on the route if conditions are harsher than we’d normally expect on a winter day in the hills, expect a committing, challenging route and no lenience on kit requirements.

Distance: If all goes to plan, we'll cover approximately 13-miles across some challenging rock and tricky terrain and ascend around 2,500 feet.

Kit requirements - Please note that you'll need to bring the below with you in order to take part in this event and there will no exceptions as this will be a challengeing, wintery day out;
