About the event
Meeting in Buxton ready for a 9:00am start. Meeting location will be sent in confirmation email after booking.Â
Join Debs aka SHORTY for a Wayfarer RUN and RIKE exploring some ancient and beautiful parts of the Peak District, including various dales such as "Silly" Dale and Cressbrook Dale as well as the ancient strip fields of Litton, a picturesque mosaic of pasture and dry-stone walls. Among others, a real highlight of the Wayfarer will be High Rake and Tideswell Rake; one of the best remaining examples of an open lead rake in Derbyshire! Â
Expect to cover around 13 miles in 4 - 5 hours (RUN group) or 5 - 6 hours (RIKE group).Â
The RUN group... will go at a steady running pace, comfortable for all in the group. We'll still hike steeper / uneven sections and will regularly stop to catch our breath and take snaps of the best views. We're not interested in pace, and instead aim for everyone to enjoy themselves!Â
The RIKE group... we approach RIKES with the mindset that it’s mostly a hike, where we'll run a bit when the going is easy, rather than running until we're forced to walk when the going gets tough! The benefits of riking include more ‘time on feet’ as well as the other physcial and mental benefits of a longer run, without feeling shattered afterwards!Â
